How Maritime Container Transportation is Organized

Maritime containers are made of special corrosion-resistant steel and are hermetically sealed with multiple locks that can be sealed, making them extremely difficult to open. They have wide doors that facilitate the loading and unloading of goods and special "ears" for easy movement by cranes. Standard container sizes are:
- 20 feet long (a little over 6 meters);
- 40 feet long (12 meters);
- 45 feet long (almost 14 meters) for oversized cargoes;
- Width and height are about 2.5 meters.
For maritime transport, there is no need to collect a pile of permits for each item; a single document - a bill of lading - is issued for the container, which contains complete information about the cargo and confirms the carrier's responsibility for delivering the cargo to the destination port.
